"Perpetual Motion" by NYPC, 500 Pieces |
I rediscovered jigsaw puzzles last August, and I've had one going as a work-in-progress since the moment I began a little 500-piece Beatles puzzle I found in a markdown bin at Barnes & Noble. As soon as I've finished one, I've either framed it or re-boxed it, and quickly moved on to the next one. In the last eight months, I've learned a lot about the hobby, but I realize I've barely scratched the surface when it comes to jigsaw puzzles. I was, for instance, surprised to learn how internationally popular the hobby is, how passionately people take it, and how friendly veteran puzzlers are to newcomers. It's been a wonderful experience so far, one I hope to continue and enjoy here.
So I'm "Under Construction" again...but hoping to have something reasonable up in the next few days, something that you will enjoy as much as I do. Thanks for giving me a shot, folks, and thanks for being such a friendly community. In the meantime, if you stumble upon this blog, I would appreciate you helping to spread the word to your friends. As I said earlier, I want to learn more about puzzles, and the best way to do that is to tap into the knowledge base that's already out there. Let's learn together.
Hi Sam, it's nice to meet another jigsaw puzzle blogger! I'm Stacey and I've been puzzling and blogging about puzzles for almost 2 years now. I love reading and writing about puzzles almost as much as assembling them. I hope you have a great time with your new blog, I'm looking forward to keeping up with it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy, for stopping by so soon. I'm linking to other puzzle blogs that I find so that others can see how large the community really is. I've just added your great blog to the other three that I already had on the list. I'll be a regular reader. I see that you are one of those puzzlers who really complete puzzles quickly...I'm not that fast, being lucky if I can manage 100 pieces a day. Your kind of speed amazes me.
ReplyDeleteHi Sam! Nice blog you have there. I'm Penny aka "PuzzleMomma". I too love jigsaw puzzles and have my own puzzling blog. For a time I was even receiving free puzzles from manufacturers to review on my blog. I have been tied down with "life" events for the last year and a half so I have hardly touched my blog, but I am yearning to get back to it very soon. Reading your blog here is motivating me so thank you for that!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my blog if you would like to check it out too. http://www.puzzlemomma.com
Thanks and happy puzzling from one puzzle nut to another! :)
Also, take a peek at Flickr. There are a bunch of puzzle groups there you can join where people from all over the world share pictures of their puzzles in progress, completed, and their collections. SOOO FUN! I belong to three, but my absolute favorite is the Big Jigsaw Puzzle group. This is for 3,000 pieces and higher. Great fun!
Penny, thanks for the information and for stopping by. The blog is still "under construction," but I hope to have a whole lot more material here soon. I'm still in the designing phase. I've been a blogger for the last twelve years, but have shut the others down now and want to concentrate on this one. Of course, that means starting from scratch, with the big difficulty being letting people know that you even exist. I'm going to link to your blog over in my blog list on the right, and I plan to spend some time reading what you've posted. (I understand the "life events," situation completely, believe me. Two auto accidents and a broken hip have slowed me down a lot in the last three years, but I'm finally about 80% back to normal, and rearing to go. Thanks again.
